A Weak Grip

Nickelodeon Shop

A weak grip is created when your hands are turned too far to the left on the club, and the club sits too high in the palm of your left hand.

Here are some tips to help you focus:

Try rotating your right hand up and over the club and your left hand counter-clockwise. The “V” of your right hand will point toward your left shoulder. This will affect your left to right flight of the ball.

It makes it easier for the clubhead to come through the hitting area with the face open, or pointed to the right of the target. An open clubface will cause the ball to have left to right, or slice, or spin. It creates an open clubface throughout the swing it has the tendency to roll the clubface open during the take-away when the hands are turned too far to the left.
